Patrel Spence Fountain

December 05, 1923 - September 13, 2016

Patrel Spence Fountain

Patrel Spence Fountain, 92, of Savannah passed away at home with her family by her side on Tuesday, September 13, 2016.

Born in Statesboro, Patrel grew up in Savannah, GA where she lived with her husband of 52 years, James D. “Jim” Fountain. An avid bowler, she also loved spending time at their weekend home at “The River” in Colonels Island, GA, with Jim and the family—crabbing, fishing, shrimping and dancing. Patrel had a beautiful singing voice and in her younger years, recorded a song that was played on Burl Womack’s radio show in Savannah.

Surviving are her daughter, Terry, and son-in-law, Rick Tindol, with whom she has shared a home since Jim’s death in 1995; granddaughter, Kim Tindol White (Andy); grandson, Rick Tindol, Jr. (Kris); five great-grandchildren: Kathryn Grafton (18), Spence Grafton (13), Dean Tindol (11), Walt Tindol (9), and Alice White (3), all of Savannah. Patrel is also survived by her sister, Lee Dotson (Jimmy), several nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Patrel’s life will be held for family and friends at the home of her grandson on Friday, September 16 at 11:30 a.m.
